Farmville is a Facebook application and runs many platforms with Facebook access. It is a small, simple application and is classed as a MMORPG. Because the game is free, it has become very popular, with 10 million user accounts created in the first month of its release in 2009. Zynga, the publishers of Farmville, have been known to monitor the presence of bots on accounts and can suspend accounts from the game.

Some of the exploits and cheats for Farmville, have actually been purposefully coded into the game by Zynga. These exist to cover all sorts of weird eventualities that players might find themselves facing. For instance, it is a well-known fact that you can harvest your fields without moving, by blocking yourself in behind bales of hay. This exploit was programmed into Farmville to prevent players from getting stuck accidentally and being unable to take actions while being immobile.
